Marvel Avengers Alliance: Spec Ops 7 Begins! Ant-Man!

Special Operations (Spec Ops) 7 launched today for Marvel Avengers Alliance, which means... the game is slow! Okay... kidding! ...kinda (I'd be careful playing today as the game seems to crash more when Spec Ops just starts).

Up for grabs this time is Hank Pym aka Ant-Man. His abilities are a bit similar to Wasp's, except he's a tactician. Here's a look:

Hank Pym - Tactician

  • Passive - Smartest Man in the Room
    • Each new round grants a new Analysis
      • After the 1st Round, Analysis: Conjecture
        • Attacks ignore most avoidance effects
      • After the 2nd Round, Analysis: Hypothesis
        • Attacks ignore most avoidance effects
        • Attacks always crit
      • After the 3rd Round, Analysis: Theory
        • Attacks ignore most avoidance effects
        • Attacks always crit
        • Attacks ignore Defense
  • Level 1 - Growing Pains - Single Target Unarmed Melee
    • Stealthy
      • Does not trigger counter-attacks or protect abilities
    • Cornered
      • Removes and prevents Protect effects
    • Dizzy
      • Accuracy reduced by 25%
  • Level 2 - Goliath Punch - Single Target Unarmed Melee
    • Exploit Opportunity
      • Deals increased damage against targets with Staggered, Distraction, Off-Balance, Poison, or Dizzy
    • Staggered
      • Greatly reduced chance to dodge the next attack
  • Level 6 - Army of Ants - All Enemies Unarmed Melee
    • Stealthy
      • Does not trigger counter-attacks or protect abilities
    • Off-Balance
      • Removes and prevents Counter-Attack effects
  • Level 9 - Bug Squashing - All Enemies Unarmed Melee - 3 Round Cooldown
    • Catastrophic
      • Can't be Protected against
      • Ignores most Avoidance effects
      • Guaranteed to hit
    • Deadly Crits
      • Deals extra damage on critical hits
Thoughts
  • Growing Pains is an especially good attack to use on protect Blasters since it's stealthy and can be followed up with Goliath Punch on non-protected Blasters.
  •  I'd be leery of using AoEs with a Tactician (Bug Squashing) since they invite counterattacks from Infiltrators. Then again with his passive, a Round 2 Bug Squashing should do a good chunk of damage.
  • You can pair him with Quicksilver and set up a Tag Team - Bug Squashing Combo.
  • Like Wasp and Beast, he can cause Off-Balance and Cornered to help you get pass protection abilities. That being said, neither hero sees much use in PvP where protect is a hurdle.
  • Besides his passive, he's a pretty ho-hum offensive hero with nothing in the way of survival abilities.

  3. I'm generally eager to see Beast, an Avenger during the 1970s and mid 1980s, back with the group. I'm additionally eager to see Valkyrie join the Avengers family.
