Forsaken World: Intro to the Immortal Rift, Part Three - Bidding on a Battlefield

While the rewards for participating in the Immortal Rift can be great, the cost to participate can also be high as you have to bid money from your Guild Reserves in a battlefield auction that begins every Wednesday and ends Thursday night.

To bid, your guild's leader has to pay a visit to the Immortal Rift NPC, Leonidas located in Freedom Harbor near the Magic Fountain.

Forsaken World: Gem Reforge Guide

With the Storm of Wars patch to Forsaken World, a new feature introduced was the Gem Reforge.

Basically with Gem Reforge, you can take one gem and change it randomly to another (or the same). This is best done with bound gems as the resulting gem will be bound.

You also get a lot of gold for your guild's reserve fund (transferable to your guild's maintenance fund) for getting a high rank for the week as well as other rewards.

Forsaken World: Intro to the Immortal Rift, Part One - The Basics

The Immortal Rift is a weekly guild versus guild PvP instance introduced in Forsaken World's Storms of War patch.
Entering the Rift

Rift battles take place on Saturday with 100 v 100 (One Star battlefields) at 2000 server time, 60 v 60 (Two Star battlefields) at 2100, and 30 v 30 at 2200 (Three Star battlefields).

Once the designated time begins, you can enter your guild's rift by speaking to Leonidas. Once you talk to Leonidas, find your guild's battlefield from his list and click "Enter."

Once inside the instance, you can buy a 1-hour Combat License III for 5 soul gold to fight mounted in the rift.

You can also get a quest to gather red crystals that spawn randomly in the center area of the instance map.

Forsaken World: A Guide to the Guild Base Exorcism

Teleport NPCs will appear next to this guy.
The Guild Base Exorcism is an instanced event in Forsaken World introduced in the Storms of War patch.

By participating in your own guild's Base Exorcism, you can help contribute to guild funds as well as a lot of EXP. You can participate in multiple Exorcisms but will only get EXP for one a week.

Once a guild officer has initiated the event, a 15-minute entry period starts where two NPC teleporters that will appear next to the Base Event Manager that any player may use to enter the instance. You are registered for the event simply by entering the instance.

There are two NPCs because one is for non-guild participants (costs 10 silver and is on the left) and one is for guild participants (free and is on the right).

Once the 15-minute entry period is over, the event starts with Phase 1 (there are 4 phases total)

Guillermo at the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Party

I think Guillermo might have the best job in the world. Check out his newspaper.

Jimmy Kimmel Live: Guillermo at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards

I love Guillermo. He is hilarious. Watch as he gets drunker and drunker (and redder) from toasting the celebs at this year's Grammy Awards.

I Saw the Devil Trailer

From what I can piece together from the video, crazy old dude (the main actor from Old Boy) murders Stormshadow's wife and Stormshadow looks for him and tortures him in a most brutal fashion repeatedly for vengeance. It's got an 86% on Rottentomatoes.com so far

Old Spice: Komodo

The latest in Old Spice goodness. I guess Komodo is a new old spice scent? I don't know why they choose Komodo for a name; I think it's more associated with the lizard than the island (yes, Komodo is an island).

Thor - Second Trailer

More shiny, metallic goodness from your favorite Norse God. I have to say the Thor movie is looking pretty good so far.

Captain America: The First Avenger Super Bowl Spot

Captain America! He's like Superman but without powers; he does have a super indestructible shield though! I like the CGI that they did to make him look scrawny pre-super soldier serum. The tech's still not there yet though but it's getting close.

X-Men: First Class Trailer

On a budget of about 120 million, I wonder if this one will be a "yea" or a "nay" It's pretty much the Charley and Erik show and how they end up enemies. I think a big problem with some X-Men movies is too many characters and not enough focus. We'll see how it goes though.

The Volkswagen Commercial with the mini-Darth was probably the most memorable one of Super Bowl XLV but I don't necessarily know if it makes you want to buy a Volkswagen.

Battle: Los Angeles Theatrical Trailer

Battle: Los Angeles Theatrical Trailer
Here's the synopsis for Battle: Los Angeles:
"For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world -- Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before."

Cars Being Washed Away in Australian Flooding

Toowoomba Flood - January 10, 2011
Crazy flooding (think Katrina bad) is currently occurring in eastern Australia in one of Australia's worst-ever natural disasters. To give an idea of how fast the water can rise, the video after the jump shows the water as it overtakes the banks of the creek and starts taking cars with it.

You can't see too well in the picture above but there's a guy in that SUV; he got in after the water began to rise to the cars, deflated his tires and eventually drove away to save his car from the flood. I wouldn't recommend anyone trying the same; he's really lucky he didn't get washed away and you have auto insurance for a reason.

If you want to help out donations are being accepted by the Queensland government.

Michael Jordan's 2009 Hall of Fame Speech

2009 Michael Jordan Hall of Fame Speech – Click above to watch video after the jump
Michael Jordan's 2009 somewhat controversial Hall of Fame Speech is a three-parter (i.e. over 20 minutes long). Some felt he wasn't classy or humble enough and took a some cheap shots at people. Others felt the speech was a rare honest look at the competitive man behind the marketing icon; it's probably the most unrehearsed and "real" Michael Jordan as you're ever going to get. Check it out after the jump.

Ron Artest - NBA 2010 Finals - Game 7 Postgame Press Conference

Ron Artest's 2010 NBA Final Postgame Press Conference – Click above to watch video after the jump
Ron Artest's Game 7 NBA 2010 Finals postgame press conference was probably one of the most bizarre postgame press conferences in sports from one of basketball's odder and, sometimes, more troubled individuals. But also one of the more honest and entertaining. Check it out after the jump.

New Year - Birds Fall from the Sky

Here's a bit of weird and kinda spooky in the new year: over 5,000 blackbirds fall from the sky during New Year's Eve in Beebe, Arkansas. They're going to test some of the dead birds on Monday to figure out what happened, but they're guessing it's weather related.

What better way to ring in the New Year but with a punch or two or three or how ever many times punches are thrown in this SNL Digital Short. Check out the Jon Bon Jovi cameo and Guitar Hero recover! The zombies are a bit much.
